Narrow townhomes: the middle room is darker than you think
A townhome only has glass at the front and back, so light comes from two directions. If you specify blackout everywhere because you are worried about heat, the middle of the house needs the lights on all day. The workable approach is room by room: blackout where a bedroom genuinely needs to be dark, and sunscreen at around 45 percent for the front living room, which cuts heat and glare while still letting the house stay bright.
