Our workshop is in Wat Chalo, Bang Kruai, Nonthaburi, so this is the province whose houses we see most often. What makes Nonthaburi unusual is that it holds two very different worlds at once. On one side, condos and community malls have grown along the MRT Purple Line and Rattanathibet Road. On the other, Bang Yai, Bang Bua Thong and Sai Noi are estates and houses with land around them. Estate houses here tend to have a lot of windows, which is why most owners do the whole house in one go — one tone, one style — rather than room by room, where each batch of fabric can come out very slightly different.

Besides fabric batches, there is a cost most people forget. Installation is 200 THB per unit, but jobs under ten units are charged a flat 2,000 THB — so doing two or three windows at a time means paying that flat fee over and over. Production runs 7-14 days from the day you confirm, depending on how many units, and fitting takes about 20 minutes per unit, so a whole house usually finishes in a single visit.
These three roads changed the look of Nonthaburi more than anything else. Houses built along them usually put a big pane of glass at the front to bring light in, which looks great in a show home at 10am and rather less great once you live there and meet the afternoon sun and the streetlights at night. A lot of them end up adding a light-blocking layer afterwards. The other commonly forgotten piece is the narrow sidelight beside the front door, which is exactly the pane that throws light into the middle of the hallway.
Units around the stations from Yaek Tiwanon and the Nonthaburi Civic Centre out to Talad Bang Yai and Khlong Bang Phai are mostly compact, with glass on one side only. That window is the room's only light source and its only heat source at the same time. Go too opaque and the room is dark all day; go too sheer and it cooks. These rooms usually land on something in the middle, like a dim-out, which takes enough light out without turning the place into a cave.
Around Bang Kruai, Bang Si Mueang, Bang Krang and Sai Noi there are still plenty of houses backing onto a canal or sitting in a garden. They are noticeably more humid than houses in town, and their owners tend to open windows rather than run the air conditioning. That means the covering has to stay put in a breeze and must not hold damp. Our wooden blinds handle humidity well, and a flat roller panel wipes down far more easily than pleated fabric with folds that collect dust.

Nonthaburi counts as part of the Bangkok metropolitan area, so the fee is 500-1,000 THB and it is credited back in full when you order.
If a spot is high enough to need scaffolding, that is 500 THB per level. The fitter checks which windows need it while measuring, and it appears on the quote from the start.
About 7-14 days from the day you confirm, depending on how many units. On fitting day it is roughly 20 minutes per unit, and you need to be home while it happens.
