Sai Noi is the most open district in Nonthaburi — mostly rice fields, orchards and houses with land around them. There are estates along Bang Kruai-Sai Noi Road and the Ban Kluai-Sai Noi road, but nothing like the density of Bang Bua Thong or Bang Yai. That openness changes the brief. A house with nothing beside it takes direct sun from morning to evening with no break, and gets noticeably more wind than a house packed into an estate. Between those two facts, what suits Sai Noi is not what suits a city-centre condo, even in the same province.

A house inside a dense estate gets shade from its neighbours whether it wants it or not, so a west-facing room only really heats up late in the afternoon. A house standing alone on its own land gets none of that: the same room heats up sooner and stays hot longer. The fabric level that is enough in an estate is often not enough here. When we measure we also walk the outside, looking for mature trees or a deep eave, because both genuinely change the answer.
Plenty of households here live with the windows open rather than the air conditioning on. Good for the electricity bill, awkward for curtains: long fabric panels billow and slap against the frame, which is noisy and gets them dirty fast. Rollers and blinds stay put far better, and blinds have the extra advantage of steering airflow and light at the same time. Real fabric in the living room is still perfectly possible — just choose the room that is not left open all day.
A house built on its own land gets to choose its own window sizes, so oversized openings turn up regularly out here. A few numbers worth knowing before the conversation starts: motorized curtain tracks run 1 to 16 metres wide, curtains can be made up to 1,000 cm tall, vertical blinds up to 320 cm, and wooden blinds up to 250 cm wide by 300 cm tall per unit. If your opening is bigger than that, send rough sizes and we can say upfront how many units it should become.
