What does a motorized roller blind cost? Every part of the price, explained

Updated 2026-08-236 min read

A motorized roller blind isn't an off-the-shelf product with one price. It's priced by fabric area, then a motor and a fitting charge per unit. Here's every component, plus the square-yard formula you can run on a calculator yourself.

The first question everyone asks is “how much per window?” — and there is no single honest answer, because every blind is cut to size. A 90 cm window and a 250 cm window simply don't use the same amount of fabric. What we can do is break the price into its parts, so you can work out roughly where your job lands before you even message us.

The price is made of three parts

  1. The blind itself, priced by area in square yards — fabric, tube, end caps and brackets are all in this one.
  2. The motor, priced per unit — one window is one unit, and one unit takes one motor.
  3. Fitting, also per unit — it depends on size and how awkward the position is.

Add the three together and you have the price for one window. Every figure on this site is before VAT.

What is a square yard, and how do you work it out?

Curtain shops in Thailand still price by the yard, not the metre. One yard is 91.44 cm, so a square yard is a square 91.44 cm on each side — about 0.84 m². The formula is (width in cm ÷ 91.44) × (height in cm ÷ 91.44).

  1. Say the window is 180 cm wide and 200 cm tall.
  2. 180 ÷ 91.44 = 1.97 yd
  3. 200 ÷ 91.44 = 2.19 yd
  4. 1.97 × 2.19 ≈ 4.3 square yards

Multiply that by the per-square-yard rate in the table above for the blind itself, then add the motor and the fitting charge for that unit.

What the per-unit minimum means

Motorized roller blinds have a 1.5 square-yard minimum per unit. If your window works out to 0.9 sq yd, it is still charged as 1.5. Cutting, assembling and fitting a small blind takes almost as long as a large one. The practical takeaway: if your home has several small windows, don't expect the price to shrink in proportion to the size.

There's also a smallest size we can physically make. Below that we'd need another approach — the size table is in how to measure your own windows.

How the motor is charged

The motor is charged per unit, not per house. A bedroom with two windows that should both move on their own means two motors. We fit Somfy, Noovo, Kacee and Uni motors — they typically last 5-10 years, and we warrant the motor for 6 years. You operate them with a remote, a phone app, or a wall switch.

No socket where the blind goes? There's a rechargeable battery motor instead — about 2 hours to charge, then 4-6 months of use per charge. More on that in can you fit motorized blinds in a finished home.

Fitting charges, and how other products compare

Roller blinds are 200-2,500 THB per unit to fit, depending on size — a low window you can reach standing up is not the same job as a tall one that needs scaffolding. Other product lines use a different formula. Here they are side by side.

The costs people forget to count

  • Every price on this site is before VAT.
  • The on-site measure costs 500-1,000 THB in Bangkok and the metro area and is credited back in full when you order. Outside that it starts at 3,500 THB and is not credited back.
  • Taking down old curtains: 200 THB per unit.
  • Scaffolding for high ceilings: 500 THB per level.
  • If there is no socket near the headrail, an electrician has to add one first — we don't do wiring.
  • Fitting after 17:30 costs extra. Weekends are at no extra charge.

Getting the real number for your windows

Send your sizes through the window size tool — rough numbers are fine. We come back with a written quote within a day listing the style, the exact fabric code and every measurement, and the price holds for 7 days.

Does the per-square-yard price include the motor?

No. The per-square-yard rate covers the blind itself. The motor is charged per unit on top, and fitting is a third, separate line.

My window is under the minimum — can you still make it?

Yes, as long as it isn't below the smallest size we make. It's still charged at the 1.5 square-yard minimum, though.

Do the prices include VAT?

No — every price on this site is before VAT.

Want the numbers for your own windows?

Send rough sizes first — no need to measure precisely. We'll work out a price, then arrange the real measure.
