Motorized blinds, wooden blinds and curtains in Bang Na

Bang Na is the last Bangkok district along Sukhumvit before Samut Prakan begins, and it is where the Bang Na–Trat road starts, with the elevated Burapha Withi expressway running above it. Homes here fall into two clear groups. The first is condos clustered around the Bang Na and Bearing BTS stations, plus those on the first stretch of Bang Na–Trat near BITEC. The second is villages and townhomes deep inside the big sois such as Udom Suk and La Salle, where long-established projects sit alongside recent ones. The two groups barely share a single problem: condo units deal with road lighting and limited space, while houses down the sois are usually replacing an original set of curtains or covering tall windows nobody can reach.

Condos on Bang Na–Trat: when the view is an expressway

Units facing Bang Na–Trat, especially on floors roughly level with the elevated expressway, look straight out at the road deck and a stream of headlights all night. That is a different brief from a typical city-view condo, because plenty of owners have no wish to keep this particular view. A sunscreen fabric, which you still see clearly through, may not be the answer for the living room. Dim-out, which is more opaque and hides more of what is outside without making the room fully dark, usually suits these rooms better. For a bedroom lit up by the road at night, blackout mounted over the frame lets far less light leak down the edges than one fitted inside the reveal.

Studio units near Bang Na and Bearing stations

Small units near the stations often have no choice but to put the bed or sofa right against the glass, and curtain fabric spilling out in front of the window immediately crowds the headboard. A roller blind, which rolls up into its headrail, takes the least space at the window of anything we make. The other common wish in these rooms is to separate the sleeping corner from the living area. A room divider does that without building a wall and reaches up to 360 cm tall — but be clear from the start that it divides the space visually. Sound and air-conditioned air still pass, and the ceiling along the track has to be able to carry the panels, which the fitter checks on the day of the measure.

Villages off Udom Suk and La Salle: replacing the original set

A house that has been lived in for years usually has its original curtains up, so the first question is not which fabric to choose but what is worth keeping. If the existing curtains still look good and the heading holds its shape, motorising just the track may be the better value — though it has to be checked on site whether the hooks and the drop suit a new track. If the fabric has gone limp, a new track will not make it look good again. Taking old curtains down is 200 THB per unit. The other thing two-storey houses tend to have is a tall stairwell window nobody wants to climb up to. A motorized roller handles that well, since it runs from a remote, a phone app or a wall switch without anyone going near the glass.

Common questions

What customers in Bang Na ask

What does a measure in Bang Na cost?

Bang Na is inside Bangkok, so 500-1,000 THB, credited back in full when you order. Allow about 2-3 hours, because we bring fabric samples for you to choose from on site.

Will a room divider in a studio block sound?

No. A room divider is a set of fabric panels that splits a space visually; it is not a wall. Sound, smells and air-conditioned air still pass over the top and under the bottom. If the goal is to keep the bed out of sight, it does that job, and it goes up to 360 cm tall.

Can our existing curtains go on a new motorized track?

It has to be checked on site: whether the heading and hooks on your curtains suit the new track, and whether the drop still works where the new track will sit. If the fabric can be reused there is no fabric cost — only the track, from 5,900 THB a set depending on length, with the motor included. All prices exclude VAT.

We work weekdays — can you fit in the evening?

Fitting after 17:30 costs extra. The alternative is a Saturday or Sunday, which costs nothing more. Either way you need to be home during installation, because the fitter shows you how everything works before leaving.
