Motorized blinds, wooden blinds and curtains in Din Daeng

Din Daeng is a small district but a densely lived one, split into two sub-districts, Din Daeng and Ratchadaphisek. Housing here comes in three kinds. First, the National Housing Authority flats that have been part of Din Daeng for a long time, some of which have been demolished and replaced with new high-rise blocks. Second, condos along Ratchadaphisek and Pracha Songkhro roads, not far from the underground Blue Line. Third, shophouses, apartment buildings and rented rooms down the sois. On top of that, expressways and elevated roads run through the district, so some rooms face a raised roadway rather than the next building.

What comes up most often in Din Daeng

Written from how people actually live here, not text that would fit anywhere.

Older flats and rented rooms: start with what you can change

Rooms in older buildings tend to have modest windows and few sockets, and many of the people living in them are tenants, who should agree with the owner or building management first on where a track or headrail may be fixed. Once the limits are clear, choose. Plain curtains come in fabric grades from standard to premium, so the budget is easy to control. If you want motorized but there is no socket by the window, a rechargeable battery motor needs no wiring at all. The thing to check before ordering is window size: motorized rollers start at 50 cm wide and 100 cm tall, and anything smaller means looking at a different type.

Condos around Ratchada and Pracha Songkhro: no track outside, but neighbours close by

The Blue Line runs underground beneath Ratchadaphisek, so condos here don't have trains passing the glass the way units near elevated lines do. The privacy pressure comes from neighbouring buildings instead, especially in the Pracha Songkhro sois where several tall blocks stand close together. A unit looking straight at another building's balconies or windows needs something heavier than sunscreen: dim-out cuts the view in considerably without making the room as dark as blackout. A unit that looks out through a gap between towers to a longer view is better off with sunscreen, which you can still see through.

Rooms facing the expressway and elevated roads

A room level with the expressway has a problem most rooms don't: people in passing vehicles can see in at eye level. And it flips between day and night. In daylight it is brighter outside than in, so sunscreen makes it hard to see into the room. After dark, with the lights on, the same sheer shows the shapes of people inside quite clearly. A room facing the expressway really wants two layers — sheer for the day, opaque for the night. A double motorized track runs each layer separately, and you can close the opaque one from the remote or the phone app without walking over to the window.

Common questions

What customers in Din Daeng ask

What does a measure in Din Daeng cost?

500-1,000 THB at the Bangkok and metro rate, credited back in full when you order. The room needs to be finished before we measure, because the sizes have to be final.

Our window is small — can it take a motorized roller blind?

Motorized rollers start at 50 cm wide and 100 cm tall. If the window is smaller than that, we look at a different type instead, and the fitter can go through the options at the measure.

We rent and would rather not run new wiring — is there an option?

Yes. A rechargeable battery motor needs no wiring — about two hours to charge, then four to six months per charge. A wired motor needs a socket near the headrail, and we don't do wiring.

How can we pay, and how much is the deposit?

Bank transfer, cash or PromptPay. The deposit depends on the job — 50% on some, full payment on others. Once the deposit is paid the order can't be cancelled, because the fabric is cut to your sizes, and every price shown on the site excludes VAT.
